Organization Description :

During the past five years, Mlup Baitong has worked on environmental education and community-based natural resource management in Cambodia. From the beginning as a project of a British NGO, Mlup Baitong has grown so that there are currently twenty staff, including eighteen Khmer staff and two expatriates, two offices and eight projects.A local Board of Directors was established in 2001 to guide the direction of the organization. Mlup Baitong is now officially registerred at CCC (cooperation Committee of Cambodia ) as well as at the Ministry of Environment. In 2002, Mlup Baitong expanded its activities in Kompong Thom province in order to expand its environment network with pagodas. 

Over the past years, Mlup Baitong has achieved a great deal in terms of project implementation, staff capacity building and organizational development. Mlup Baitong is now one of the leading Cambodian NGOs focusing on environmental education and community-based natural resource management. Many NGO and government staff, as well as students. regularly visit the Mlup Baitong office to acquire resources and information on environmental education.

Mlup Baitong has three programs divided into 6 projects: 

1. Environmental Education Program with three projects including a.School Ecoclub project; b.Buddhism and Environment project; c.Environmental Education Resource Center. 

2. Community-Based Natural Resource Management with three projects including a. Community-based Ecotourism (CBET) project; b.Community Forest (CF) project, c. Women and Environment project; d.Kirirom National Park Visitor Education project. 

3. Environmental Advocacy that includes an Environmental Radio project
